About The Ladner Family
Johan Andreas Ladner is found listed in the `Immigrants to the Middle
Colonies` in 1761. Family lore would have the family originating in
Wurtemburg, Germany. There were six children christened in New York City at
the Lutheran Church to Johan Andreas Ladner and Catherine Grojan (a widow).
Their son Johan `Andrew` Ladner served as a Loyalist with the Kings America
Regiment of Westchester and Long Island, NY; first appearing on a muster roll
in 1777 as a drummer. He served under Colonel Edmund Fanning, who would
become the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Andrew was
given a grant of land in 1796 for his service, located at Lot 65, Queens
County, PEI. (Nine Mile Creek)
Andrew married Sophia Hobbs in 1791 and they raised twelve children at
Nine Mile Creek. The generations of the Ladner clan have been very prolific
and the current descendants number into the thousands; residing in many
provinces and states of Canada and the US.
